Skin

In this blog let's learn about human skin.

Fact Number 1:

Do you know that the human skin is the largest organ in the body?

Amazing! Right?

Why we need to protect our skin?

Skin being the outermost covering of our body protects our internal organs and provides overall immunity to our body against harmful external microbes and trauma.

But it is also in a constant threat to external injuries and infections due to constant wear and tear.

Fact Number 2:

Your skin regenerates itself after every 4 weeks

As our skin is under constant threat to external injuries it also has the capability to renew itself after every 28 days.

This regeneration is commonly seen as "Dead Skin Shedding".

That's why your cosmetologist recommends you to exfoliate your skin once or twice a week so that you can get rid of those whitish dead skin seen on your face.

Fact Number 3:

Your diet influences your skin.

Yes! It does. Diet plays a significant role in influencing your skin condition.

What you eat is seen on your face.

Diets low in antioxidants and high in refined carbohydrates are bad for your skin.

Antioxidants in diet helps to reduce the concentration of free radicals in your blood and thus reduces acne breakouts.

Also foods low in refined carbohydrates reduces inflammatory mediators on your blood hence improving skin texture.

Fact Number 4:

Skin changes with age.

Age plays a crucial role in skin texture and elasticity.

Increasing age with sun exposure causes loss of collagen from skin leading to sagging and loose skin with fine lines and wrinkles.
